As much as it pains me to admit it, I sincerely struggle to know when to shut up. Actually that’s not technically true. Usually I know full well when my lip should remain zipped but still can’t manage it. To be clear, I don’t mean that I go around blabbing my nearest and dearest’s deepest, darkest secrets all over town. No, my inability to keep schtum largely revolves around any piece of exciting news, gossip or project that is in one way or another embargoed but I really want to shout about. I did one such, super secret, project way back in November and not being able tell you about it has driven me damn near crazy. So, it’s with great pleasure and enormous relief that today I can share Triumph’s #FindTheOne campaign with you…
When iconic lingerie brand, Triumph, approached me about being one of their seven ambassadors for this year’s global campaign my initial response was to be extremely flattered and hopelessly over excited. These thoughts then rather turned to embarrassment and anxiety over my own relationship with lingerie. As you most likely know, besides making and marketing very beautiful bras Triumph is renowned for their unparalleled emphasis on ensuring their customers have the perfect fitting size and style for their shape, and that is the premise of the Find The One campaign. Last year alone they fitted 380,000 women for bras and I had a niggling feeling that had I been included, I would have been one of the astonishing number wearing one that didn’t quite fit. But then I thought, surely, what better way to help encourage others to find the best possible bra for them than by finding “the one” myself?
For those of us with non existent cleavages, it’s all too tempting to think that the necessity for a properly fitting bra doesn’t apply but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Not only is having a bra that actually fits – as opposed to whatever size seems vaguely appropriate and doesn’t cause acute physical pain or look totally ridiculous – essential for fighting the inevitable effects of gravity it can also revolutionise your daily life in several ways. First and foremost, comfort. Regardless of whether you have melons or mosquito bites, if you’re wearing a bra that isn’t the right size or shape you’re going to be uncomfortable which will result in you being less productive, probably less nice and just make life a bit rubbish. Secondly, the wrong underwear has ruined many an otherwise excellent outfit and I’m not talking about the cardinal style sin that is a visible panty line here. Whether it’s the bulge of flesh over a too tight strap or rumple of excess fabric in the crucial cup, these things make a noticeable difference to your silhouette and as we all know, the devil’s in the details. I have broken all of these rules in the past but taking part in this campaign and being professionally fitted for, I’m ashamed to admit, the first time by one of Triumph’s lovely team, has rather revolutionised my approach to underwear. Keen to get educated about underwear too? #FindTheOne for you here.
So, let’s talk about the project itself. Back in November I spent a super fun day shooting videos with my fellow faces of the campaign, Sasha Wilkins AKA Liberty London Girl; Cora Harrington of The Lingerie Addict; Fashion Hippie Loves‘ Anna-Lea Popp; beauty editor of The Guardian, Sali Hughes; Lindsey Calla of Calla In Motion and Valentine Vanesse of Hello It’s Valentine. Between us, we have a pretty varied collection of boobs and will be offering our different perspectives, experiences and styling tips here on Triumph’s style hub. More coming soon!
Love Ella. X
