I’m pretty certain I don’t need to tell you that the past months have been mental. Four cities, four weeks, God knows how many shows and a sizeable number of parties plus projects, extreme weather conditions, delayed flights and broken laptops. It’s been intense, but oh so utterly amazing. It feels wrong to characterize this particular post as a “project” because really, it was an absolute treat. It also involves a VERY exciting piece of news for all you lovely London readers (and two of you in particular…) because iconic New York’s hair care brand, Nexxus, arrives exclusively at Selfridges next week…
As well all know, no one grooms like New Yorkers. From glossy blow outs to pin trimming soul cycle sessions, these people don’t just work hard and play hard, they also find the time to achieve an intimidating level of physical flawlessness. Whenever I’m there I always feel like a total scruff in comparison so being invited into Nexxus’ recently refurbished, impossibly chic TriBeCa salon for a consultation during New York Fashion Week. When I say “consultation” I really mean it. This isn’t like popping into your local place with a printed-from-google picture of Olivia Palermo. To be honest I didn’t quite realize what an amazing opportunity this was until my one on one session with Nexxus’ charming Global Creative Director, legendary hair guru and trichologist, Kevin Mancuso began. Since the 1979 Nexxus has pioneered the concept that hair is alive and can be treated with protein to replenish it and restore the natural gorgeousness that everyday life and all the endless damaging things we do to our locks takes away. Since its inception, the company has focused on combining hair care and science, being one of the first to infuse antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and botanicals into hair care products. Today, on the cusp of its global relaunch, Nexxus holds true to this aim although their capabilities have, like pretty much everything else, been hugely enhanced by 21st century technology. My own consultation saw Kevin scan my hair using specially created iPad software to identify its defining qualities and condition, so that he could come up with an individual regime specifically tailored for me.
I am not joking when I say that the results were extraordinary. I’m talking instantly full bodied with more movement than I thought my barnet was capable of, without losing any of the natural silkiness that makes having (usually) limp locks just about worth it. I couldn’t help but think of my school biology teacher who repeatedly and bizarrely angrily told us that protein products could’t affect or restore hair condition, oh how wrong he was. Oh, and we also braved the cold to shoot this awesome cinemagraph too.
Following the consultation I was sent a package containing all the carefully selected Nexxus products which I’ve used religiously – well, as religiously as one can during a month of non stop travel – since. A Nexxus consultation is a luxury experience on so many levels. From the incredible knowledge of the team and depth of scientific research behind the ever developing products, to the peaceful, personal and intimate environment they create; I cannot actually recommend it enough especially for anyone struggling with damaged or problem hair, or who just wants to look their absolute best in the most enjoyable way possible.
Now this is the part where things get particularly exciting for UK readers. Two yet to be determined UK readers in particular. On March 19th Nexxus will be coming to London, launching exclusively in Selfridges. The brand’s experts will of course be flying over to offer consultations. You can bet that these will book up in seconds so I’d recommend getting on the waitlist here right this second.
For two of you however, signing up won’t be necessary as Nexxus have very generously offered me two free VIP consultations with a fully qualified Nexxus hair expert, trained by Kevin Mancuso himself to give away to you. Trust me, a personalised Nexxus hair care system is something you seriously need in your life. How to enter? It’s simple…
1. Follow @lapetiteanglaise on Instagram here
2. Follow @NexxusHairUK on twitter here
3. Email your name and contact number to me here

Hi,
I just wanted to thank you for allowing me to win this competition! Although I sadly couldn’t attend the appointment the kind people at Nexxus sent me some personalised products anyway, so I just wanted to say thanks!
