I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I am about this feature! You’ve perhaps already spotted it on my instagram or Teen Vogue’s. The piece came out while I was in Egypt and I couldn’t get my hands on a copy but luckily the mag’s wonderful Senior Fashion Market & Accessories Editor, Jessica, posted a snap so I could hastily regram and almost explode with happiness in the process…
I have read Teen Vogue for over a decade now and have vivid memories of pouring over it as a teenager, coveting every piece of clothing, plotting to copy the styling in its editorials and, I’m not going to lie, secretly (ish) wishing that I might one day grace its pages myself. There is something very unique and special about Teen Vogue. For countless girls, it’s the magazine that introduces them to fashion and therefore shapes their tastes, wardrobes and in some cases careers. So when the team approached me at the Tibi show during New York Fashion Week to ask for my contact details and whether I’d be interested in working with them I was utterly thrilled, if not entirely convinced anything would ever come of it because that’s often how life goes, right? Luckily though, or I wouldn’t be writing this post, Teen Vogue followed up and asked if I fancied a two page spread so on the final afternoon of London Fashion Week I found myself rushing home to get ready for this shoot.
Having team Teen Vogue arrive at your apartment is fairly nerve wracking, as I’m sure you can imagine. Well, it was beforehand anyway as I was frantically trying to book a cleaner and work out when I could pop home from shows to actually unpack my New York suitcases in the midst of fashion month madness. In actuality, the whole thing was totally relaxed and a whole lot of fun. I don’t think anyone there could have cared less whether I’d hoovered! I’d put together a selection of my favourite outfits, ones that felt particularly “me” and therefore involved vast quantities of clashing prints and eye poppingly bright colours, and we headed out to a few of my most loved West London spots so that we could take these incredible pictures. The whole experience was so fantastic, if slightly surreal, and I could not be more thrilled with the final piece. You can see a bigger (i.e. actually legible) version of the below print on my press page and read even more on the Teen Vogue site here.
Huge thanks to Teen Vogue, the entire shoot team and most of all, to you guys. Without you reading La Petite Anglaise and following my fashion journey (I’m cringing as I write that but don’t know how else to put it!) this would never have happened.
Love Ella. X

[…] We all have our own personal, lasting dreams and aspirations. Lots of them. Throughout my teenage years I read Teen Vogue religiously (still do TBH) and had always not-so-secretly dreamt of being in it one day. I wasn’t actually really that confident this would ever happen happen, let alone anytime soon, so I was over the moon when the mag approached and asked if I’d be up for doing a 2 page shoot and interview for their April 2015 issue. See more here. […]
