Where: London
Fun fact, I once attended a summer drama camp where I “starred” in our final production, and one of my all time favourites, Greece. I wanted so, so badly to play the part of Rizzo (read into that what you will) but got stuck with something rubbish like “Pink Lady number 3” instead. Damn was I one pissed off pre teen! I was a bit of a brat back in those days, believe it or not, so couldn’t understand why on earth I hadn’t been chosen to play the important role of arch badass despite the fact that I a) couldn’t act to save my life and b) was one of the youngest and stroppiest camp attendees. Well, my younger self is rubbing her hands together with glee over this outfit which has Queen of the Pink Ladies written all over it! Let’s face it, no one but the Queen bee of the clique would have their initials on their letterman jacket or get away with such pattern clash tastic tight trews and I was probably only after Rizzo’s wardrobe in the first place anyway!
Gingham has also been major news for SS15 and this ensemble is right on the money in that respect. You guys know my philosophy on never being able to have too much of a good thing. Doesn’t matter whether it’s a particular lunch (i.e. Itsu’s Omega 3 Salmon Supreme), particular drink (Starbucks iced lattes, diet coke, Pinot Grigio, rose etc), colour (pink), dinner (tartare), exercise (running, errrrday) or print (ALL OF THEM ALL THE TIME). My policy on stuff you like is go ham until you like it no longer… So, I didn’t say it’s not a flawed policy but in my experience, if you really like something then it’s pretty tricky to genuinely over do it. We may have to revisit this conversation in a few years time when I’m a caffeine free, teetotal, vegan yogi who wears only monochrome but for now, hashtag YOLO. And gingham is certainly a prime print to be obsessed with this summer! Whether you wear it sexy and cinched waisted a la Altuzarra, Michael Kors style sports casual, Desperate Housewives esque as seen at DVF or in line with Topshop’s seemingly never ending homage to the 1990s, there’s no wrong way to sport a picnic perfect pattern right about now. Except, perhaps, in legging form which I can imagine would be so unflattering it hardly bears thinking about.
How will you be wearing gingham this season? Or will you be bypassing the trend altogether? You can also find out excatly how I created the rosy makeup look to go with it on the blog here.

That’s so perfect! I think only you can pair a gingham outfit with a “Grease” worthy jacket and totally look great in it!
