Valentino Master of Couture Exhibition

I can’t help but feel it’s going to be a fabulous autumn. Especially thanks to this latest snippet of sartorial news which sees three of my all time favourite things – fashion exhibitions, Valentino and Somerset House – come together for a three month celebration of one of the world’s leading couturiers.

“Valentino: Master of Couture” will be a glamorous exhibition focusing exclusively on haute couture created by the legendary Italian designer. With a 50-year career starting in the late 1950s this exhibition will showcase over 130 hand-crafted designs worn by icons such as Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren and Gwyneth Paltrow. A prophetic designer and creator of exquisite, beautiful clothes, this is Valentino as he has never been seen before.

Featuring dresses from the couture catwalk and red carpet, as well as designs commissioned by private clients, the exhibition will bring together a comprehensive collection of couture, much of which has never been seen outside the Valentino atelier. Visitors will be able to sneak a peek behind the closed doors of Valentino’s world and even experience the thrill of walking the runway… Sounds pretty awesome, non?

“Valentino: Master of Couture” will be open at Somerset House from November 29th 2012 to March 3rd 2013.

Love Ella. X

Ps) Turns out the exhibition was curated by my course leader at Central Saint Martins, Alistair O’Neill, small world eh?!

  3. Love Valentino and i love how he ends with his classic red dress. I did a painting once with ladies in red dresses inspired by the 1920’s and i named the painting “Valentino Red” …i know, such a dork…oxoox
