Beauty: Pink Lady

This beauty post has been a while coming! In fact, I repeatedly promised it would be going up last week and repeatedly failed to write it. In my defence, things have been hectic as hell of late but that’s no excuse for being rubbish. As you may recall, in my latest Look Du Jour, Pink Lady, I was rocking some pretty rosy cheeks and a matching lip. I absolutely adore this wonderfully fresh, summer ready look and the delectable products I created it with so very much hope you do too…

Step 1. The Basics

This my friends, is about the most simple beauty “how to” in existence. In fact, I almost feel embarrassed explaining how to do it because it’s so basic. But I suppose it doesn’t hurt to share a face painting routine that takes literally no time, barely a handful or products and little to no professional tools or, for that matter, skills. I started with a completely bare, moisturiser only visage.

My go-to foundation is, as you know, bareMinerals powder but if I can avoid wearing any I do. Obviously a lot of the time this isn’t possible but thanks to a bit of early summer sun and genetics (I do not deserve good skin and suspect my days of having it are numbered) I’m currently only wearing it for fancy evening events. For this look, I prepped using Lancome Gel Eclat Mousse Cleanser followed by YSL Beauty’s Touche Eclat Blur Primer which is super lightweight and great even if you’re not going to use foundation on top as it just gives your skin a smooth, glossiness.

My second step of prep was to cover up my eye bags and blemishes with my trusty touche eclat before a bit of lash lengthening courtesy of Lancome Grandiose mascara.

Step 3. Rosy Cheeks

I usually use a bareMinerals powder blush and/or bronzer but I’ve fallen hard for Lancome’s divine newly launched Cream Blush. It’s a really clever formula that feels like a lightweight, smooth cream and turns into a super fine powder on the skin. The blush comes in three colour popping shades including a bright orange, Corail Alizé, and vibrant red, Rouge Mistral, but obviously I opted for the hot pink Brise Rosée. I used my finger to apply the blush up my cheek bone from the cheek apple to my hairline then blended it using a rounded kabuki brush.

The results are a gorgeously subtle rosy glow. Like you’ve been for a brisk outdoor stroll without having to leave the house.

Step 4. Pink Pout

I adore a super bright lip and Lancome’s latest Shine Lover collection is a new fave. There are few things ickier than when a lipstick dries out and starts to go flaky and generally gross. These babies do not. Ever. I’ve literally worn it all night and it stays as silky smooth and shiny as the moment you put it on. Extra points for the fact the shine lover lipsticks come in matching hues to the blush… You know how I feel about matching stuff. Naturally I opted for the Fuchsia in Paris shade which is, in my opinion, just about the perfect pink.

Step 5. Fuchsia Fingertips

Yeah, matching stuff. I really cannot get enough! The final touch for this pink-on-pink-on-pink look was, of course, an equally eye popping set of talons. Dior Beauty nail polishes are, in my opinion, some of the best quality, easiest to apply and long lasting around. Bonheur is my personal favourite for obvious rosy reasons.

Et voila! The simplest, quickest beauty look around but one that I reckon is highly effective. See the Look Du Jour I paired it with here.
