This little Look Du Jour combines some of my most beloved things. Florals, flatforms, Carven, A-line miniskirts, collars, oversized shades, my beloved red leather biker jacket… You know I don’t like to play favourites when it comes to outfits but I can’t help but feel extra fond of this one. Even the most seasoned style chameleons inevitably have a weakness for certain brands, motifs, cuts or specific pieces. It’s one of those wonderful instances where breathless infatuation and familiar comfort zoning are one and the same. So basically the opposite of dating. Speaking of dating, I can’t quite work out whether this lewk would be a hit with the fellas or a guaranteed man repeller. I’m also not sure why I keep rhyming in this post but let’s park that issue for now and concentrate on the clothes. Carven absolutely killed it for SS15 (saying that makes me even more devastated by Guillaume Henry’s departure) and this eye-popping patterned miniskirt combines the go-faster cool that permeated the collection with the pretty preppiness we’ve all fallen hard for since Guillaume took the reigns in 2009.
Paired with stompy, clompy but brilliantly leg lengthening Marni flatform sandals, my trusty Thakoon satchel and a little white shirt, I reckon this ensemble hits the sweet spot where geeky meets gamine but that could just be me, what do you guys think?
Love Ella. X
