This may not be the first, second or even third time you’ve seen this little ensemble crop up in my Look Du Jour posts but while it’s an oldie, I think it’s rather a goodie. Sometimes it’s fun to mix up your look, take your latest buys on their first tentative outing or try out a tricky trend. On other occasions, it’s just not. I don’t know about you but I find the idea of having a failsafe outfit formula both comforting and practical, especially when you have under ten minutes to get ready! After a manic week I decided to head to my parents house in Sussex for a weekend of “working” (read: re-watching every film Ryan Gosling’s ever featured in), dog walking, tea drinking and one ill advised horse ride which left me in screaming agony the next day. Foolishly I opted to spend an extra evening enjoying Sky + and home cooking and found myself shivering on a small town train platform at the crack of dawn come Monday morning, a fate made infinitely more unpleasent by the fact that I didn’t manage to get a seat and had to stand up for the entire journey. Anyway, in the interest of not verging into rant territory I’ll get back to the point of this anecdote. I arrived in London with precisely 8 minutes to make myself look presentable and leg it over to Mayfair where I had a breakfast meeting with the Ralph Lauren team at super swanky restaurant, Cecconi’s. Obviously the (unintentionally) distressed jeans, motheaten sweater, pyjama combo top I’d shoved on for the morning communte wasn’t going to cut it so I opted for my tried and tested blouse/loafers/high waisted skirt formula et voila… Insta preppy!

Love Ella. X
