LPA Styles It: H&M AW14

La Petite Anglaise H&M

TWO editions of LPA Styles It in one week! Sacre bleu! I told you I’d been busy, and that I missed the first day of London Fashion Week for good reason. As I mentioned earlier this week, after landing at the crack of dawn I raced home for the quickest of showers before heading into town to get shooting. My first destination was H&M’s cracking Oxford Flagship store to style up their AW14 collection. You may recall that I was lucky enough to attend their Paris show back in February and was seriously impressed with what I saw. It was no less impressive in person and I sure as hell will be going back for a splurge once all this fashion month mayhem is over…

Leather skirt, available in stores
Gold cuff bracelet, available in stores

It’s official, this is my new silhouette. Shooting LPA Styles It with H&M was actually something of a revelation to me. I can do grown up, slinky and dare I say it sexy. It doesn’t have to be all prep n’ pep. Not that I’m about to abandon my sparkly toes and beloved bows but this louche kind of long line look, with the relaxed leather pencil and super slouchy knit has an insouciance to it that I can’t get enough of and will definitely be attempting to recreate this season. It’s the kind of outfit that you could wear on a hot date, to work, to fashion week and just about everything in between. And who doesn’t love a big hat?

Having taken an embarrassingly long time to embrace the slip, I now can’t seem to get enough. After I finally unearthed the silver number that had sat unworn in my wardrobe for literally six months, it dawned on me quite how effortlessly awesome they are. This charcoal number from H&M is actual perfect and doesn’t it look super expensive!? My jaw hit the floor when I laid eyes on the asymmetric, waterfall pleat situation. Paired with a chubby faux fur and seriously glam heels the whole look is just the right side of “walk of shame” and oh so on trend for AW14. I would rock this look for cocktails and dancing, perhaps not to the office.

I don’t know why I’ve never really considered wearing jumpsuits. They instantly look like a “look”, and a very chic one at that, and are the simplest things to style. Gold and khaki is a delectable colour combination and combined with python accessories adds a really luxurious feel to the whole thing. Easy, breezy chicness and I cannot actually describe how comfortable this outfit is! It would be the dream for brunch after the night before.

I’m not going to lie, when I first saw this outfit it scared me a bit. The icy white, sculptural-ness of it all… Could I pull it off? But I’m not one to shy from a challenge, especially those of a sartorial nature so I gave it a whirl and was totally converted. Despite the width of the weft, this two piece looked sleek and streamlined once on and made me feel far cooler than I actually am. I would wear it all together as a statement look or pair the top with skinny jeans, brogues and perhaps some form of mannish outerwear.

Besides styling myself, I have also styled some of the mannequins in H&M’s Oxford Street Flagship Store so do pop in and see them if you’re around there!

Wow, the portrait headshot with the large black hat it so striking! I love the drama a wide brimmed hat can bring to a simpler look. The white-on-white look is pretty snazzy too.

Wow ella like seriously you nailed all those looks. My favourite has to be the first one, love the slouchy look. Don’t see those kind of silhouettes on you that often so it’s nice to see you experimenting. First the red Baker suit, now the lose jumper and the khaki jumpsuit, rocking it girl.
