I hope you’ve been enjoying my many, many fashion week posts. Don’t worry, there are a whole lot more to come but first I’m really excited to share a very cool project I’ve been working on. Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months you must have heard about Harrods Shoe Heaven. The space was billed at “the world’s most luxurious shoe destination” and I have to say, that claim is no word of a lie. Admittedly I haven’t visited all the world’s luxurious shoe destinations (yet!) but it’s hard to imagine one more magnificent than Harrods newly opened emporium of heavenly delights…
At 42,000 square feet of marble floored fabulousness with 17 individual branded boutiques, over 50 brands and exquisite interiors designed by the late, legendary David Collins, Harrods Shoe Heaven is the kind of dreamy place you could easily lose hours on end. The second I stepped through the doors my jaw hit the floor. I’m sure by now you’re starting to wonder what on earth I have to do with all of this so I’ll tell you. In celebration of this wondrous place opening, Harrods decided to pair up a selection of the key brands with boutiques in the department with digital influencers. I was delighted and honoured when they and Chanel asked me to partner with the iconic French fashion house and invited me along last month to preview the Shoe Heaven. Naturally this turned into a marathon shoe trying on session that somehow saw me being the best part of an hour late to my next meeting, oops. But if Harrods Shoe Heaven couldn’t make a type A organization obsessive like me blasé and casual lateness then seriously, I don’t know what could!
I also got the chance to discover, and try on, a few pieces from the exclusive “silver linings” collection. To create the collection Harrods enlisted a selection of the biggest names in footwear – Manolo Blahnik, Valentino, Charlotte Olympia, Chanel – to recreate their most iconic styles in shimmering silver. This, I thought, was a stroke of absolute genius and the results were divine. Chanel’s high tops are the kind of sports super luxe I can certainly get my head around!
